Alerts come with Tickerlane Pro
We're building them: a Telegram message or an email, minutes after the measurement, when a story moves oil more than twice its usual. No advice: just the fact and the number. To hear when they start, leave your email on the Morning brief page.

What moves oil
Oil reacts to supply (OPEC+ decisions, US output, wars and sanctions in producing countries), to the weekly US inventory figures and to expected demand, which depends on economic growth, above all in China and the United States.
How we measure
For each instrument we compute its "usual" move over 4 hours of open market (the median of recent days, excluding weekends and closed hours). When we publish a story, we look at the price 4 market hours later: if it moved more than usual we write "moved the price", otherwise "the market did not react". A big story with a flat price usually means the market already expected it.
Frequently asked questions
Why is oil moving today?
Look at "The news, measured" above: you'll find today's verified stories about oil and, for each, whether it moved the price more than usual. If there are none, the move has no verified public cause.
How do you tell whether a story moved the price?
We compare the move in the 4 market hours after the story with that instrument's usual move over the same span. The calculation is automatic and the same for every story.
Is this investment advice?
No. Tickerlane says what happened and what the market is pricing, never what to do. We make no price predictions.
