What moves Bitcoin
Bitcoin moves with the market's appetite for risk (often together with the Nasdaq), with flows into spot ETFs, with regulators' decisions and with exchange events (hacks, failures, frozen withdrawals). It trades 24 hours a day, weekends included, so its "usual" move is wider than an index's.
How we measure
For each instrument we compute its "usual" move over 4 hours of open market (the median of recent days, excluding weekends and closed hours). When we publish a story, we look at the price 4 market hours later: if it moved more than usual we write "moved the price", otherwise "the market did not react". A big story with a flat price usually means the market already expected it.

How do you tell whether a story moved the price?
